It can be confusing to choose the perfect printer as there are so many brands and models to choose from. Whether you are looking for a printer for your factory, home-office or proper office, here are the factors you must consider before you decide on the right one for you.

1. Cost Per Print (CPP): Most people consider cost per print to arrive at while buying as it makes economic sense. The Epson M- Series range is a great option if you are considering a low cost, mono laser printer. The average mono-laser printer prints 2000 prints at Rs. 2.74 per print with an original toner and this comes down to 1500 pages at 27 paise per page with a refill toner. In comparison, the Epson Monochrome EcoTank prints 6000 pages per refill at a low cost of 12 paise per page. That’s around 23 times cheaper!

2. Speed of printing: Printers meant for the workplace need to print fast because of the high volumes. The Epson EcoTank M 2140 can print up to 39 pages a minute for text and 20 images per minute (simplex printing).

3. Cost of ink refill: An original laser toner costs Rs 3000 and yields 1500 pages. The Epson M-Series is easy to refill and costs only Rs. 699 per refill ink bottle, giving you the luxury to print 6000 pages per refill. Also, the prints are completely smudge-proof and fade resistant.

4. Overall cost of ownership: The Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) considers the total of all costs, over a period of time, related to printer purchase and its use, including the cost of refills. A glance at the table below shows how buying an EcoTank printer is by far the most economical option.

5. Power usage: Power consumption is another very important factor in choosing the printer. The power conditions of rural and urban India being what they are, the importance of a power-efficient printer cannot be emphasized enough. Many mono-laser printers consume as much as 360 watts of energy. On the other hand, Epson’s Monochrome EcoTank range of printers consume as little as 12 watts. That means far lower electricity bills. An added bonus: these printers can also be used with a UPS if there’s no electricity.

6. Environment friendly: We must also consider the environmental consequences of our purchases in these times. With less heat production and less e-waste (no cartridges to dispose), the M-series range is definitely an environment-friendly option.
